“The Marula Lodge is undeniable in its beauty, and the premier luxury retreat styling is gorgeous. However, the drive to get out to the lodge is quite long and rugged. Once there, the hospitality is warm, and the wilderness views are spectacular, but it felt a little too isolated for our personal taste. Perfect if you want total solitude, but a bit daunting if you prefer being closer to local towns.”

“The Marula Lodge is undeniably beautiful. The architecture blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, and the private viewing decks offer a stunning, peaceful setting to watch the sunset. The wellness treatments were also highly relaxing.

However, for a premium luxury retreat, the experience fell short in a few areas. The dinner menu was incredibly limited with very few options if you stay more than two nights, and the service throughout our stay felt indifferent and sluggish. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was practically nonexistent—which is fine if you want total isolation, but frustrating when trying to look up travel updates. It’s a gorgeous place, but the hospitality needs to match the price point.”

“The perfect balance of luxury and wild. The safaris were incredible, and the hospitality was top-tier. The lodge itself honors the earth beautifully with its architecture and design. Just be aware that the Wi-Fi and cell service are incredibly spotty out here. It forced us to completely disconnect and recharge, which ended up being a blessing, but keep it in mind if you absolutely need to check in with work!”
